It's probably not that cut and dry.. (long, tedious)

In wrestling, a backup may never see time in a dual. A backup is only needed in case of injury, so Dresser many try to redshirt as many. If the injury is season ending, Dresser will pull the shirt of a solid recruit that can win. Dresser has also pulled shirts off guys that could help immediately that he can shirt later (he did that with Hughes last year).

Depth guys

Group A - immediate contributors (guys who could start next year)
Blees 157

Group B - eventual contributors (Chris Penny is a great example, started out as a bad wrestler, finished as an AA)
Wilding 174

Group C - Long shots
Bergida- 165
Haskett 133/141
Lozier 149

The following guys are eligible for redshirts this year (the grouping is subjective and

Group A - immediate contributors (guys who could start next year)
Kyle Norstrem 125/133
Moore
Degen
Dunn

Group B - eventual contributors (Chris Penny is a great example, started out as a bad wrestler, finished as an AA)
Latona 125/133 (pulled)
TJ Allen - 184
Prata 125
LaPrade 157
Hughes- 174
M. Ciavarro- 165 (pulled)

Group C
Burns 125/133
Forsythe- 157
Ryan- 141 (if Dresser decides to shirt Ryan this year, then he's a B)
Lattanze- 125

You want to redshirt A and B guys, but can redshirt B guys later since the won't be need until their Jr or Sr. year. C guys probably won't shirt.

Knowing this, let's look at the weights.

125- Dance is the starter. Kyle Norstrem is the guy in case of season ending injury (provided he recovers). Latona could move down if Gus moves down. You can burn either Prata's or Burns' shirt. Lantanze is there, but has a ways to go,

133- Latona is the starter (for now) and could back up if Gus goes down. Haskett and Burns are depth.

141- Gus is the starter (for now). Brent Moore or Chisko (if he moves down) are options. Ryan can fill in for spot starts.

149- Chishko is the starter (for now). Degen or Sal (if he moves down) are next in line to start. Lozier handles spot starts.

157- Sal is the guy (for now)- Blees and Laprade are there. Laprade may shirt, but could provide depth if blees moves up.

165- Ciavarro is there (for now)- Blees, Laprade and Bergida will try for this spot.

174- Epp is the guy. I think wilding (who's done ok) is the backup, unless there is a serious injury, the Hughes goes.

184- ZZ is the man. Wilding takes a spot if needed, Allen goes if there is a significant injury.

197- Haughts the guy. Cook is the backup.

285 Ty is the guy. Cook is the backup if we are desperate. Dunn needs to shirt, but that could be pulled if something serious happens to Ty late in the year.

Also, Dresser has a listed of decent wrestlers that are at VT that he can call in a pinch.
